The highly anticipated Samsung Tab, the Korean manufacturer's first Android tablet is definitely a serious competitor for Apple's iPad. After getting my hands on one of these devices I can say from the start that the tablet is not for everyone.

Some people will probably dislike it because of the small/large 7-inch (600 x 1024 pixels resolution), others will probably think the tablet is way too small for an Internet device, or simply too large to carry (190 x 120 x 12 mm).

What I really saw was an elegant device, carefully built, which will most likely look ridiculously when put next to your year. So, don't think at this device as regular mobile phone, unless you plan on using a Bluetooth headset or wired headphones.

The 7-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen (16 Million colors support) is nowhere near the Galaxy S's quality, but you still have a nice view over pictures, Internet browser and such.

Further, I would like to mention here that you will probably be better investing in a Kindle device instead of buying the Tab, if you want to use it as a book reader most of the time.

There's no comparison between an electronic ink display and Samsung Tab's touchscreen, and it's not in the former's favor.

Besides that the tablet is worth all the money when it comes to connectivity features: HSDPA, 7.2 Mbps, HSUPA, 5.76 Mbps, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP, GPS with A-GPS support.

The only downside I found is the fact that the device comes with a proprietary USB cable, which means you will have to carry different cable for different devices (that's if you also carry a standard smartphone with you).

Samsung Tab also sports a 3.2-megapixel camera with LED flash and autofocus, as well as a secondary 1.3- megapixel front camera. You can take pictures, but I don't think the tablet will be easy to handle. Moreover, you might look hilarious when trying to take a picture with the camera on the back.
The device is powered by an ARM Cortex A8 1 GHz processor and runs Android 2.2 Froyo operating system.

Samsung Tab will be launched in Romania at the end of October. Hopefully, we will be able to review the device after the official release.
