Unlike HTC who decided to launch fewer devices this year, Samsung is not concerned by the huge number of handset models it releases every year. After announcing plans to merge its proprietary bada mobile platform with Tizen operating system, Samsung prepares for the launch of new Android, Tizen and Windows Phone devices.

All these and more will be unveiled next month at the Mobile World Congress, in Barcelona, where Samsung plans to make several important announcements. Until then, the Korean handset manufacturer announced the Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus, an Android smartphone, at the beginning of the year.

Today, Samsung is back with two new phones that add to the already large lineup of handsets in the Star series. Samsung Star 3 and Star 3 DUOS have just been officially unveiled with several improvements to make them more appealing than other devices in the series.

According to the folks over at SammyHub, both feature-phones are expected to arrive in Russia later this month, after which they are released in other regions, including Europe, CIS, Africa, Latin America, Middle East and Southeast Asia. In addition, Samsung Star 3 DUOS with dual-SIM capability will be launched in Southwest Asia as well.

Both handset feature similar specs sheets with one exception, the fact that Star 3 DUOS comes with dual-SIM function, whereas the standard Star 3 accepts only one SIM card.

The feature-phones sport decent 3.0-inch QVGA capacitive touchscreen displays, 3.2-megapixel rear cameras with video recording, microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 16GB), Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support, as well as Stereo FM with RDS and 3.5mm audio jack.

Software-wise, the latest phones in the Star series, Samsung Star 3 and Star 3 DUOS come with ChatON messenger pre-loaded, a music player with SoundAlive, as well as Samsung’s TouchWiz Lite user interface.

No word on the phones’ price tags yet, but judging from their specs sheets these should not be too expensive, on the contrary.
