Another Samsung little slider

Virgin Mobile will soon be offering to its US subscribers a new handset - Samsung Slash, more exactly, a phone that comes in a slider form factor and looks pretty nice, although it doesn't bring anything out of the ordinary.

Except for some good looking images, we don't have too many details about the new Samsung, but we do know that it features a photo camera, Bluetooth, Web browser, speakerphone, voice dialing capabilities, the ability to change its menu interface language from English to Spanish, embedded games and a battery that should provide up to 3 and a half hours of talk-time and up to 170 hours of stand-by time. The new Slash weighs 3 ounces (85 grams) and, when closed, it measures 3.8 x 1.8 x 0.7 inches (96.5 x 46 x 17.8 millimeters). Its display doesn't seem too big, but neither too small, so we could say it's a good display for an entry-level phone - which Samsung Slash seems to be.

Since Virgin Mobile also operates in Canada, Australia, India, South Africa, the UK and France, Samsung Slash might be released in these countries too. But this depends on what kind of connectivity the phone supports, so until this detail is revealed, we won't know for sure if the Slash is a US-exclusive or not. Anyway, knowing that in the US Virgin Mobile operates on Sprint's CDMA network, the Slash obviously features CDMA connectivity and it's pretty hard to believe it also supports GSM networks. Therefore, it's more likely that the handset is planned to be launched only in North America.

The price of Samsung Slash is unknown for the moment, and neither is its exact release date. Virgin Mobile's official website lists the handset as "coming soon", hence it should hit the market in the next weeks.
