We reported last week on LG’s triple SIM smartphone that was launched in Brazil and now it looks like Samsung has released a similar device in the same market.

Samsung Galaxy Star Trios is another entry-level Android smartphone that features triple-SIM support, Phonearena reports. Just like LG’s device, the Galaxy Star Trios is now available for purchase in Brazil via multiple authorized resellers.

Aside from the fact that it allows users to fit in not one or two SIMs, but three SIM cards, Samsung Galaxy Star Trios does not stand out from other Android devices in its price range.

Speaking of which, customers in Brazil can purchase the Galaxy Star Trios for only $165 (€120) outright, slightly higher than LG’s triple-SIM smartphone.

It appears that Android fans in Brazil prefer these types of smartphones, just like dual-SIM handsets are the bread and butter in India.

Samsung Galaxy Star Trios ships with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box and is certain to remain on this version until it gets discontinued.

Hardware-wise, the entry-level handset is far from being impressive, but it wasn’t meant to anyway. The smartphone comes equipped with a 1GHz single-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 processor, which is complemented by 512MB of RAM.

Furthermore, the Galaxy Star Trios packs only 4GB of storage inside, which can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

The handset also sports a small 3.14-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 240 x 320 pixels resolution. On the back, Samsung’s low-end smartphone features a sub-par 2-megapixel photo snapper with video recording.

Last but not least, Samsung Galaxy Star Trios is powered by a 1300 mAh battery, which has yet to be rated by the manufacturer. It’s unclear whether or not Samsung will launch the triple-SIM smartphone in other countries, but we suspect that it will be limited to Brazil.
