As one of those IT players that deal in various different types of products, Samsung made more than a few announcements not long ago, one of which deals with some new laptops for the workplace.

Samsung is always looking to add more items on the consumer front, but that's not its only outlet, as it has extensive business, enterprise and education-oriented portfolios as well, among other things.

To illustrate this, it just issued a press release, one of many, in which it details three new lines of laptops, dubbed Series 2, Series 4 and Series 6.

They all use Intel Core i3 to Core i7 central processing units, depending on selection (Series 2 also has Celeron as an option), along with up to 8 GB of RAM (4GB on Series 2, 6 GB of Series 4 and 8 GB on Series 6).

The Series 2 and Series 4 have HD (1,366 x 768 pixels) displays of either 12.5 inches and 14 inches, while the Series 6 can also be configured with 1,600 x 900 pixel screens (14-inch and 15.6-inch sizes are available).

All of them settle for Intel integrated graphics, except for the Series 6, which can also come with an NVIDIA NVS 4200M.

Furthermore, the HDD storage capacity can be of up to 500 GB, although an SSD can be used instead (only on Series 6), for 128 GB to 256 GB.

All in all, the newcomers cover a wide range of customers and are optimized for comfort, reliability, durability, security and connectivity (USB 3.0 is present, among other things).

“Samsung’s new mobile PCs deliver an unrivaled experience for the workplace, with features specifically designed to meet the needs of IT managers and end users,” said Scott Ledterman, director of mobile PC marketing at Samsung Enterprise Business Division.

“The new Series 2, 4 and 6 laptops present a unique opportunity for Samsung to specifically focus on the enterprise and educational channels and underscores Samsung as a global leader in the enterprise PC market.”

Set to be available starting in April, 2011 (Series 6 will come only in May though), the laptops will have 3-year warranties and many extras, so to speak, that users might need (webcams, battery life of up to 7 hours, docking station connectors, etc.).
