Mobile phone carrier Sprint is reportedly gearing up for the release of a new range of appealing devices, powered by the most popular mobile operating systems out there, including Google's Android platform, or RIM's BlackBerry OS.

Among these devices, rumor has it that the wireless carrier would aim at offering a device sporting the model number of SPH-D600, which should run under Android, is seems.

Moreover, the said handset was tipped as coming from Samsung, and is expected to hit shelves under the name of Samsung Conquer 4G.

For the time being, nothing has been confirmed on the upcoming availability of this mobile phone, but it was spotted on a leaked document from the wireless services provider, along with a series of other devices.

Apparently, it should be launched with a sliding form factor, most probably a side-slider, with a QWERTY keyboard hidden beneath its touchscreen display.

The rumored specifications list of this device would also include an HVGA (320 x 480 pixels) resolution for the said display, along with a single-core 1GHz application processor packed inside.

The mobile phone is also said to arrive on shelves with a 3.1-megapixel photo snapper on the back, and with a front-facing camera for video calling.

Moreover, it is expected to come with support for Sprint's WiMAX services, which would make it a cheaper Samsung Epic 4G when made available for purchase.

What's uncertain is which version of Android the new device would run under, though 2.2 Froyo or 2.3 Gingrebread would be the most probable choices.

The Samsung Conquer 4G might hit the shelves on July 24th, with a price tag of between $50 and $100 attached to it, it seems.

As stated above, nothing was confirmed on this handset until now, and we'll take all the info regarding it with a grain of salt until an official announcement on it arrives.
