Samsung SGH-i780 was released today in Romania, via HAT Group, Samsung Mobile's official distributor in the country. Launched in Romania after U900 Soul, another new Samsung handset, the i780 was named "Samsung SGH-i780 Mirage" and it's a smartphone targeted for users who need a reliable device with business-oriented features.

Although first announced by the South Korean company back in September 2007, the smartphone hit the European market only at the end of February this year and now Romanian users can also benefit from its advanced functions.

Samsung SGH-i780 is very slim for a smartphone, measuring 115.9 x 61.3 x 12.9 millimeters (at a weight of 120 grams). Among the handset's highlights we have: a full QWERTY keypad that will allow users to quickly send messages and emails, a square 2.55 inch touchscreen display with 320 x 320 pixels and support for 65K colors, tri-band GSM connectivity with GPRS and EDGE, 3G/HSDPA for data transfer speeds of up to 3.6 Mbps, GPS, Wi-Fi and "optical mouse", a Samsung-exclusive feature that enables users to control the pointer from the phone's screen with the navigation pad. Moreover, since the i780 runs on Windows Mobile 6.0, it brings a suite of useful applications like Office Mobile (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), Outlook Mobile, Windows Media Player Mobile and so on.

Other nice features packed in the new Samsung smartphone include: Music player with lots of formats supported, Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR, a 2.0 Megapixel camera, a secondary video-call camera, USB 2.0 and a 1500 mAh battery capable of providing up to 7 hours of talk-time and up to 400 hours of stand-by time.

Samsung SGH-i780 Mirage is available as of now across Romania for a retail price of 1850 RON (about 510 Euros or 800 USD).
