Lately, we've been hearing a lot about Samsung, which has managed to release one nice handheld after the other, and is planning to release
another one quite soon, the SGH-i718, that was announced at ITU Telecom World 2006, in Hong Kong.
The device has been recently approved by the Federal Communications Commission and is designed for the Chinese market only, so people from other parts of the world will have to miss out on Samsung's smartphones yet again.
SGH-i718 is a quad-band (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) GSM/GPRS/EDGE Pocket PC mobile that runs on Windows Mobile 5.0 and features a 2.8 inch 65k color touchscreen with a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels, a 2 megapixel camera with auto focus, 128MB ROM, 64MB RAM and Bluetooth 2.0 for connectivity.
The internal memory can be easily expanded due to the MicroSD card slot allowing the user to store more music and photos. Samsung SGH-i718 Pocket PC also features an Audio/video player supporting the following file formats: AAC, AAC+, MP3, WMA, WAV/MPEG, WMV, H.263.
Office documents can also be created, viewed or edited with great ease. Messaging is also no problem at all, with the touchscreen and handwritten text and voice recognition. Although feature packed, Samsung SGH-i718 still manages to maintain the slim, elegant design that Samsung mobile phones are so appreciated for.
The SGH-i718 will be available to the public starting from the first quarter of 2007. There is no info concerning the price so far.
