Samsung SGH-i640 is a smartphone announced by the South Korean producer back in 2007, but it's only now that it hit the market, coming via Vodafone. Depending upon the contract you choose with Vodafone, the handset can be bought for prices ranging from free to 150 GBP (about 295 USD or 200 Euros).

Samsung SGH-i640 is the successor of SGH-i620, and is packed with a wide range of advanced features. The handset comes in a slider form factor, it runs on Windows Mobile 6.0 Standard and offers a full QWERTY keypad, a 2.4 inch TFT screen (320 x 240 pixels and 65,000 colors), HSDPA connectivity for data transfer speeds of up to 3.6 Mbps, and a 2 Megapixel camera with video recording ? not great, but enough to make photos at a decent quality.

Weighing 126 grams and measuring 95 x 61 x 16 millimeters (when closed), Samsung SGH-i640 also comes with a secondary camera for video calls, GPRS, EDGE, Music and video player (supporting WMA, MP3, AAC+, WMV, 3GP and MPEG4), Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR, USB 1.1, document viewer (PDF, Word, Excel and Power Point), WAP 2.0, RSS feeds reader, Instant messaging capabilities, Java MIDP 2.0 and microSD card support. Unfortunately there's no Wi-Fi, nor FM Radio. With a full-charged battery, the smartphone should provide a talk-time of up to 6 hours and a stand-by time of up to 380 hours.

Samsung SGH-i640 is currently available only in the UK, Vodafone's home country, where the operator has a market share of 21% and more than 18 million customers. However, we should expect the handset to come in other countries where Vodafone is among the leading mobile carriers, like Italy, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Romania, Greece, Turkey and so on. No word yet about the SGH-i640's availability in North America.
