Samsung and T-Mobile have announced a new clamshell for the US GSM market, the SGH-T219 that targets basic users.

Truth be told, there aren't that many mobile phone users that want a handset packed with impressive features, and many of the users that do buy such a phone will most likely never use all of its features.

Also, considering that high-end devices usually are expensive, one can easily understand that most users would rather get themselves a functional and convenient phone that comes with the needed features and nothing extra.

And if the mobile phone is stylish as well, even better. Well, for that kind of person, Samsung is providing a low-end clamshell phone, the SGH-T219 which is a nice and stylish, very affordable mobile phone.

It comes with tri-band GSM support, speakerphone, MMS capabilities, a 65k color screen, greyscale external display, Instant Messaging and the very basic features like agenda, calendar and others.

It can also be used with T-Mobile's myFaves service. So, basically, the T219 includes only the essentials and while some people might think such a phone is pointless when most of today's phones come with at least a camera and an MP3 player, that's not the type of users this phone targets.

With each user having special requirements when it comes to mobile phones, basic users that don't need all the extra features are starting to have quite a large number of handsets to choose from.

The Samsung SGH - T219 is available in red and brown and can be purchased online or through T-Mobile stores, at a price of $20 on a two-year agreement.
