A low-end phone with an affordable price tag

Among all those phones for more advanced users Samsung keeps rolling out one after the other, it's nice to see that they can come up with a simple phone as well, one that is simply meant to make and receive phone calls.

In fact, I don't think we got to see such a simple phone presented by Samsung in a pretty long time. The design isn't typical of Samsung either.

They've been presenting us with slimmer and slimmer phones lately, the latest being only 5.9 mm thick. When it comes to the SGH-C140 though, the Korean manufacturer didn't follow any of their own rules.

The SGH-C140 measures 104.2 x 44.2 x 16.2 mm and weighs 69 grams. It's a lightweight phone, but not exactly as thin as we have grown accustomed to expect from Samsung.

The dual band GSM 900/1800 phone comes with a 65k color screen with a 128 x 128 pixel resolution, as little as 700kb of internal memory, WAP, GPRS, SMS, EMS, MMS, Java 2.0 support and 16-tone polyphonic ringtones.

So, yes, it's quite a simple phone and there's not a lot of stuff that you can do with it, aside from messaging and making calls. You can store 500 contacts in its organizer and use it for 3 hours of talk time or 350 hours on standby mode.

The best part when talking about this phone is its price. Apparently, the phone will come with a price tag of approximately $57 or 44 euros, unsubsidized. Therefore, if you don't care much about a built-in camera or anything else except for calling this might just be what you're looking for. Simple and affordable.
