Even though end-users were
already aware of the existence of Samsung's Pine Trail netbooks, the company has finally officially debuted its products and all four of the models seem intent on scoring big points in the power-efficiency area. The N210, N220, N150 and NB30 all use the efficient Intel Atom N450 central processing unit and other low-power components such as LED displays, even while offering a full range of design elements aimed at increasing durability and ease of use.
“Featuring an elegant choice of designs, the Samsung N210, N220, N150 and NB30 lead the range with a pragmatic approach that takes ultra mobile computing into a whole new dimension. Longer battery life is an important issue for customers, and we are proud to deliver feature-rich netbooks that allow you to get wirelessly connected so easily and for such a long time,” Seongwoo Nam, executive vice president, head of Samsung IT Solutions Business, said.
The N210 and N220 are focused on power efficiency, each boasting a supposed battery life of up to 12 hours. The NB30 and N150 are not as long lived, with lives of 11 and 8.5 hours, respectively, but they each have their own perks to make up for it. The NB30 is built for durability, making use of an HDD with a free fall sensor and a water-tight seal around the system capable of safeguarding the product from 50 cc of spilled water as long as it is removed within ten seconds. The special feature of the N150 is the “integrated hinge with smooth movement and high quality connection, so everything blends effortlessly together even when the netbook is open.”
The N210 and N220 use a 1024 x 600-capable, 10.1-inch screen and employ Samsung's crystal pattern design. They boast the 'instant on' capability of the Phoenix HyperSpace tool, while the battery-power preservation is attained thanks to the 'Smart Power Management.' In parallel, safe file transfer is possible through the AnyPC remote PC access application and the tracking of the product, in case of theft, is also possible via the Phoenix FailSafe software.
All the four models are TCO certified and ECO RoHS compliant and come with a mark- and scratch-resistant casing. They are set to become available this month in EMEA, the Americas and Asian countries. The official press release may be read
