Samsung may have decided to spin off its LCD business, but until that's over and done with, it will continue to provide the market with this type of products, like the MD Series and the SL46B.

Samsung is present at the Las Vegas Convention Center for the Digital Signage Expo (DSE) electronics show.

There, it is showing off the MD series of digital signage displays, as well as the SL46B super high brightness display for retail.

The MD Series is made up of four LED/LCD displays with screen diagonals of 32 inches, 40 inches, 46 inches and 55 inches, respectively.

They boast direct-lit LED backlighting, a narrow bezel (19 mm) and they are very thin too (3.6 inches). USB 2.0 is present as well (MagicInfo Lite), as is RS232 and RJ45 display control.

Furthermore, the connectivity capabilities are extensive, as is expected from digital signage products: VGA, DVI, HDMI and Component/Composite.

“The design elements facilitate enhanced performance with the added benefit of cost-savings,” Samsung says in its announcement.

“At just 19mm, a narrow bezel allows audiences to focus more on the content, and the slim depth of the series offers more available space for other uses.”

The other product, SL46B, measures 46 inches and has a brightness of 1500 cd/m2, making it good for retail storefront windows and other places with low ambient light.

“Samsung continues to drive technology leadership in digital signage providing solutions that enable businesses, no matter their size or budget, to adopt and realize the many benefits of LED backlit displays,” said Kevin Schroll, product manager of commercial display at Samsung Enterprise Business Division.

“In particular, the MD Series helps ease the transition for customers desiring to make the move to LED, but not willing to pay a premium or sacrifice functionality.”

Samsung expects to start selling all of these products at some point during the second quarter of the year (2012).
