India is one of the largest smartphone markets and is much sought by important handset makers, including Nokia, Samsung, HTC, and LG.

The Economic Times reports that Samsung India has just confirmed it had sold more than 10 million Galaxy devices since Galaxy S was launched on the market back in June 2010.

“Innovative devices like the Samsung Galaxy S, Galaxy S II and S III, Galaxy Note, Galaxy Note II and Galaxy Y have caught the imagination of customers and helped us democratize the smartphone experience in the Indian market,” said Samsung India Vice President (Mobile), Asim Warsi.

Currently, Samsung India offers the Galaxy Y and Galaxy Note series, along with the Galaxy Tab, Galaxy Tab 2 310 and Galaxy S III to customers in the country. The first two series alongside Samsung Galaxy S III contributed to more than 50% of the sales.
