South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics has reportedly started the mass production for the recently leaked Galaxy Note 3 Lite smartphone, while getting ready to bring it to shelves in early 2014.

Samsung has yet to officially confirm any plans on launching a Lite version of its Galaxy Note 3 smartphone, but SamMobile claims that the phone’s landing next year has already been carved in stone.

Furthermore, a new report coming from ET News suggests that Samsung has high hopes for the upcoming device. The handset might account for up to 30 percent of all Galaxy Note 3 sales, it seems.

Mass production for the smartphone is said to have kicked off today, December 12, though no specific info on when we might see it on shelves has been provided as of now.

The upcoming handset is said to sport a 5.68-inch screen, as Samsung is looking at packing it with the same S Pen capabilities as the Galaxy Note 3. However, chances are that the display will feature a lower resolution or that it will be an LCD panel.

The rest of the smartphone’s hardware specifications are not known at the moment, yet we should expect it to sport slightly downgraded capabilities. Hopefully, Samsung won’t turn the Galaxy Note 3 Lite into a mid-range device, the same as it did with the Galaxy S4 mini earlier this year.

One way or the other, the company might indeed make the device a winner, provided that it is launching it at an affordable, appealing price.

Samsung is expected to make the new Galaxy Note 3 Lite official during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February 2014.

The smartphone is rumored to be released in Black and White color flavors, and it might hit shelves either in February or March. Keep an eye on this space for additional details on the matter.
