The matter somehow managed not to spiral into another court battle

Samsung used to air commercials about how its active shutter 3D technology was superior to the passive 3D from LG.

Now, the company has ceased broadcasting them after a complaint lodged by LG (October last year, 2011) and a request from the National Advertising Division, an independent US advertisement review body.

Samsung handed evidence over to NAD, backing their claims that their technology was superior.

Nevertheless, National Advertising Division feels that most consumers won't actually be able to tell the difference on their own, which means that Samsung's ads could be considered somewhat misleading.

For our part, we are pleasantly surprised that this didn't spark yet another courtroom tussle. Maybe Samsung feels it is already garnering more than enough attention through the patent war with Apple and the inheritance lawsuits, although, admittedly, it isn't Samsung itself that has to fight the latter (it is more of a personal issue of the Chairman).
