South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung has recently released a new version of its Samsung Windows Mobile SDK, namely version 2.2. According to the leading handset vendor, the fresh version of the SDK comes around with support for two new mobile phones running Windows Mobile 6.5, namely SCH-M710/715 T*Omnia II and SPH-M7350 Oz Omnia, but other improvements are also included in the release.

The Samsung Windows Mobile SDK offers APIs to use advanced features unique to Samsung phones. You might already have experience using advanced capabilities featured in the Windows Mobile APIs, like GPS, Bluetooth, or multimedia support. In addition to the Microsoft Windows Mobile APIs, you can use Samsung APIs to access phone features such as the accelerometer, notification LEDs, and haptics feedback,” the company notes on its developer website.

According to the handset vendor, the MD5 check sum for Samsung Windows Mobile SDK 2.2 Installer.msi is 32e3ef59daf7318d8d16278539dd5871. At the same time, the company notes that the support for Windows Mobile 6.1-powered mobile phones has been deprecated in the 2.0 release, and that those interested in benefiting from full support for these devices should make use of the 1.2.1 version of the SDK.

Windows Mobile developers should be able to come up with appealing applications for Samsung's handsets powered by the platform through the use of the company's SDK, at least this is what the handset vendor hopes for. Those who are new to the area should be able to find the necessary installation instructions on the maker’s website, via this link.

We should also mention that the mobile phone manufacturer is not only involved in the development of applications for Windows Mobile-based devices, but for Symbian, Java and bada-powered items too. The first handset running under its own mobile platform, called bada. is expected to be unveiled to the world as soon as tomorrow at the MWC show in Barcelona.
