South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung has released the 1.2.0 version of Samsung Windows Mobile SDK. The software developer kit is aimed at offering developers the possibility to come up with applications for the company's handsets that run under Microsoft's Windows Mobile operating system.

According to Samsung, the SDK will deliver the set of APIs needed to fully benefit from the advanced features that its mobile phones can deliver. Some of the Windows Mobile APIs that developers might already be accustomed with, such as GPS, Bluetooth, or multimedia support, are also present with the SDK, the company adds.

At the same time, the Samsung Windows Mobile SDK also comes with a series of Samsung APIs that should enable the development of applications based on some of the features that its handsets sport, including the accelerometer, notification LEDs, and haptic feedback.

The new 1.2.0 version of the SDK comes with APIs targeted at the FM Radio and dual camera functionality within Samsung mobile phones. In addition, the handset maker also announced that the tool came with support for three of its newly launched devices, namely the GT-C6625 Valencia, SCH-m490/m495 T*Omnia, and GT-I8000 Omnia II.

Those who would like to install the SDK should know that it has a few requirements, as follows: - Visual Studio 2008 Professional edition (or above) or Visual Studio 2005 Standard edition (or above) - The Windows Mobile 6 SDK Refresh - ActiveSync 4.5 (for Windows XP) or Windows Mobile Device Center (for Windows Vista) - A PDF file viewer for viewing SDK documentation - A Samsung Windows Mobile 6 phone, with PC-to-phone data cable

According to the mobile phone maker, the MD5 check sum for Samsung Windows Mobile SDK 1.2.0 Installer.msi is b65735d193de1dce0f66c69c6b086f62. The SDK is available for download (1.8MB) for free either directly from Samsung's Mobile Innovator developer website or from Softpedia, via this link.
