Coming to once again expand its portfolio of liquid crystal displays, Samsung has completed its latest addition to the 31 Series of LCDs, which is to say it brought forth a whole new line of LED-backlit monitors.

The new displays that Samsung Electronics America put together are aimed at users that need to be careful with their spendings.

As such, they both seek to strike an affordable price point as well as consume relatively little energy, the latter feat being mostly owed to the LED backlights.

The list of newcomers is made up of the 20 inch, BX2031, 21.5 inch BX2231, 23 inch BX2331 and 24 inch BX2431.

All of them have a thickness of 19mm and, except for the BX2031 which has a 1,600 x 900 panel, have a native resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels.

What's more, they have a response time of 2ms (except for the same BX2031 which settles for 5ms) and a so-called Mega Dynamic Contrast Ratio (DCR) of 5,000,000:1.

Other specifications include VGA and DVI-D inputs, as well as a pair of HDMI connectors (the BX2031 lacks HDMI altogether).

“The 31 series LED monitors fit the needs of consumers looking to upgrade to an LED monitor on a budget, especially this holiday season,” said Young Bae, director of display marketing, Samsung Enterprise Business Division.

“This line of monitors, designed with students and small and home office users in mind, stays true to Samsung’s legacy of sleek design and superior LED performance,” Bae added.

Set to start shipping sometime this month, the 31 Series of LCD monitors will be available though a variety of retailers, such as Amazon, TigerDirect, Buy.com, Staples, Office Depot, Fry’s and Micro Center.

The BX2431, BX2331, BX2231 and BX2031 will have tags of $279, $239, $199 and $169, respectively.
