Samsung Mobile Innovator has recently announced the release of a new software solution for application builders, namely the mobile widget software developer kit (SDK), which brings forth support for BONDI-capable Samsung devices. The new tool is meant to offer developers the possibility to build, emulate and test Samsung BONDI features with the Samsung widgets they come up with, while also providing them with full documentation and code completion capabilities for BONDI APIs.

According to a recent post on Samsung Mobile Inovator, “BONDI, an open source industry collaboration for widget and web technologies, provides a consistent and secure web services interface that can be used by all web developers across multiple device platforms. With the release of the Samsung Mobile Widget SDK with BONDI support, developers will have the opportunity to create widgets for different Samsung phones across multiple platforms.”

Among the features that were included in the Samsung Mobile Widget SDK 1.2, we can count: - Support for the BONDI JavaScript API's (including app configuration, launcher, device status, file system, gallery, calendar, and more) - New tabbed editor (one can add or remove BONDI features, modify project configuration settings and more) - Code completion for BONDI APIs - Support for Samsung GT-S8500 Wave - Signed Widgets - Support for the latest Java technology, Java 1.6.

Another solution released not too long ago for developers is the Samsung Java SDK 1.2.0 (Beta). When compared to the previous release, the new solution includes the following updates: new JSR 257, which enables the building of NFC based applications; Contactless Tab in External Event Generator Window (EEG); 5 new Skins (GT-S5620, GT-S3510, GT-S3370, GT-B3410W, GT-S5230N); NFC JSR 257 support added to the GT-S5230 skin; and a series of bug fixes. According to Samsung Mobile Innovator, the changes brought to the SDK are meant to enhance productivity in app building.
