Software developers can begin creating custom ROM ahead of the device launch

The Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet has been “official” for just a couple of days, but Samsung has already released the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Kernel source for it.

One might even say that the source code has become available ahead of the tablet itself for the same reason that we use inverted commas when saying the Note is “official.”

Samsung has formally introduced it, sure enough, but sales haven't quite started. Orders are being accepted, but it might still take until August 15 or so for shipments to begin, at least in some areas.

That said, the source code can be found here and will prove useful to software developers who want to develop custom ROM for it (like the folks from xda-developers).

As for the Galaxy Note 10.1, we have written all there was to write about it here.
