It might sound pretty amazing that a company such as Samsung infringes the Gmail trademark but this is what results from the picture discovered by Haochi from Googlified. As you can see in the picture attached to the article and provided by the source mentioned above, the advert promotes Samsung Q1 Ultra, a device produced by the famous mobile company. Although the purpose of this advert is to promote Windows Vista Business and Samsung Q1 Ultra, another thing attracted viewers' attention: the handheld is using Internet Explorer, the user being logged into a Gmail account. But wait, that's not Gmail because there's no G in the logo. Or it is?

At first view, you may be tempted to say that's 100 percent Gmail because the interface is pretty similar with the one included in Google's mail service. However, the logo is modified but it's quite obvious that it belongs to Gmail. Moreover, the email address appearing in the advert is modified and adapted to the logo because it shows a mail.com address.

"Imagine getting more done in more places. The Samsung Q1 Ultra has an integrated split-QWERTY built-in keypad, high-speed connectivity, an optimized Intel Ultra Mobile processor and a beautiful 7'' wide LCD touch screen display to handle everything with style. Like checking email, surfing the Web or watching a favorite movie - all in a slim, 1.5 lb. package. With the Samsung Q1 Ultra, it's not that hard to imagine," the message appearing in the advert reads.

Oh, and here's something pretty interesting: look at the top left corner of the Internet Explorer window. As you can see, it reads 'Gmail' even if the logo was modified to show only 'Mail'. Now, is this a copyright or trademark issue? Because it really looks like one. However, we're still waiting for official comments coming from the two companies so keep an eye on the news to see what happens.
