The company proves less than quick to inaugurate breakthroughs

Samsung was going to release a new 10.1-inch display, based on AMOLED technology, or maybe even an 11.4-inch one. This won't happen though, at least not yet.

The company was going to check if there was any chance of AMOLED tablets to gain a following, even with the price premium involved. It would have had a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels.

SammMobile now reports that this will not happen, at least not very soon.

Instead, Samsung will reveal an 8-inch AMOLED screen that will challenge Google Nexus 7 and iPad mini. It will have a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels.

Really, for a consolation prize, it is actually something to behold, or will be as soon as IFA 2013 rolls around in late summer.

Galaxy Note III and maybe a new Galaxy Camera will come out around the same time.
