We reported less than a week ago that Samsung might launch the Galaxy S III mini or the Galaxy Fame in India on February 14.
Unfortunately for Android enthusiasts, the South Korean company has just announced a new series of feature phones, which will soon be available in India, the Samsung REX.
Samsung is calling the new devices in the REX series “smart feature phones.” That’s probably because the phones are integrated with TouchWiz UI, though they are not powered by any operating system.
Samsung announced the upcoming availability of four feature phones, REX 60, REX 70, REX 80 and REX 90. All four will be available in India in the following weeks for prices ranging between $80/ €60 and $120/ €90.
The less featured of the four mobile phones, Samsung REX 60 sports a 2.8-inch resistive touchscreen display that supports 320 x 240 pixels resolution, smart dual-SIM capability, 1.3-megapixel rear camera, Bluetooth connectivity and 1000 mAh battery.
Samsung REX 70 features a 3-inch QVGA capacitive touchscreen display, smart dual-SIM capability, 2-megapixel rear camera and a 1000 mAh battery that should provide up to 13 hours of talk time.
Next in line is Samsung REX 80 that sports a 3-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 320 x 240 pixels resolution, smart dual-SIM support, 3-megapixel main camera, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, as well as 1000 mAh battery.
The best and the most expensive of the four feature phones is Samsung REX 90, which comes with a 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 320 x 480 pixels resolution, smart dual-SIM with hot swap and social networking support.
In addition, the phone packs a 3.2-megapixel photo snapper, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, and 1000 mAh battery with 15 hours of talk time.
No word on exactly when these go on sale, but it is also worth mentioning that all four handsets will be pre-loaded with 10 free Gameloft game, and multiple regional language support.
