With all the central processors that debuted over the past months, PC makers finally gained platforms that were both powerful and energy-efficient enough to truly bring a satisfactory performance to ultrathin laptops. AMD itself unleashed a mobile platform not overly long ago, and laptop makers were quick to take it in. One of the latest machines based on it is the X125, an ultraportable that Samsung quietly unveiled just a short while ago.

The Samsung X125, like the majority of its ultrathin peers, has a display size of 11.6 inches. Its configuration has, at the heart, an AMD Athlon II Neo K125 central processing unit. This CPU has a clock speed of 1.7 GHz and, in this case, is backed up by 3 GB of RAM. The machine also features an ATI Radeon HD 4200 integrated graphics solution, which has full reign over the LCD display panel. This screen has a native resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels and should keep up with any HD videos or other type of multimedia.

In order to give end-users enough of a capacity to store their favorite media, Samsung added a hard disk drive with 320GB of storage to the equation. The company also threw in all of the obligatory connectivity and I/O options, such as 10/100 LAN and 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, for wireless communication. Finally, the laptop comes with a built-in webcam and runs on the power provided by a 4-cell battery.

The Samsung X125 ultraportable has already been added to its maker's official UK website and even Amazon has listed it as available for pre-order. It is priced at £441.33, the equivalent of roughly $689.49, and will actually start shipping next month. Finally, for ensuring as wide a functionality as possible, the PC maker pre-loaded the Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium operating system onto its device.
