We reported last month that all major carriers in Australia would offer an Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, which had been stuck on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean for ages.

Well, it turns out that Samsung took a wrong decision by announcing the upcoming availability of the update before thoroughly testing it in its own labs.

Although most Australian operators have already successfully carried their own tests for the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for Galaxy Nexus, it appears that Samsung changed its mind and decided to pull the update altogether without any explanations.

According to AusDroid, Vodafone has already updated its Software Update Weekly Wrap section with new details on the long-awaited Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for Samsung Galaxy Nexus, and things are not looking good at all.

The carrier now confirms that the update has been indefinitely halted by Samsung and the South Korean company has no intentions of offering any other updates for this device.

Vodafone customers visiting the Vodafone software updates section to check the status of the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean for Galaxy Nexus will be met with the following messages: “Cancelled by Samsung. They’ve confirmed there will be no further updates for this phone.”

Unfortunately, the bad news doesn’t end here. Another major carrier in Australia seems to be waiting for Samsung’s statement regarding the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for Galaxy Nexus, which doesn’t seem to come.

Optus claims that it has successfully completed its testing for this particular update for Galaxy Nexus and that it is now waiting for Samsung to confirm the availability for users.

According to the carrier, its version of Galaxy Nexus (i9250) is slightly different from the Telstra/Vodafone (i9250T) models, so those who purchased their devices via Optus may be in luck after all.

However, given the fact that Samsung’s answer continues to be MIA, there’s a high chance that Optus will have to inform Galaxy Nexus users that their promised Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update will never come. Here is hoping that this won’t happen.

Last but not least, on its support website, Telstra claims that Android 4.3 Jelly Bean is already rolling out to Galaxy Nexus devices. The carrier confirmed the information back on March 6.

Still, in light of the new events, Telstra has already got in touch with Samsung to try to get more details on whether or not the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean for Galaxy Nexus has been pulled. We will keep you updated on any further news provided by either Australian carrier, so stay tuned.
