With HP having unveiled a number of new mobile computers, it is not surprising to hear Samsung doing something similar and, sure enough, the company has just been revealed to be working on two new lines of laptop, the SF (notebooks) and the NF (netbooks).

HP focused more on the multimedia side and revealed the ENVY 17 and EVY 14 Beats Edition, among other things.

Samsung, on the other hand, appears to have focused more on portability when it designed the 13.3-inch SF310, 14-inch SF410 and 15.6-inch SF510.

Clad in an enclosure designed with scratch resistance, mat-black interior and glossy ivory white exterior, the three newcomers aim to satisfy both performance and aesthetic needs of end-users.

According to Akihabara News, the three newcomers are based on the Intel Calpella mobile platform and are centered around either an Intel Core i3 or Core i5 central processing unit.

Unfortunately, the full range of specifications is not disclosed, and this includes the exact memory, video and connectivity capabilities.

What is mentioned is that the three machines come with Sleep & Charge USB ports and the Fast Start technology, which drastically reduces system boot-up times.

What's more, the laptops supposedly feature batteries that can keep them operational for up to 7.5 hours.

These notebooks were previewed alongside another trio of mobile PCs, namely the NF series of netbooks, known as NF310, NF210 and NF110

The NF210 and NF110 aren't specifically detailed, though they are supposedly optimized for mobility and affordability, respectively.

It is the NF310 whose specifications are partially known. It runs on an Intel Atom N550 dual-core chip (1.5 GHz), boasts DDR3, can play HD movies on its 1366 x 768-resolution widescreen and uses the 16:9 aspect ratio.

According to reports, the SF series will start shipping in October but, unfortunately, have not been given actual prices. It is unclear when the NF netbooks will show up.
