14 DAY TRIAL // South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung is reportedly working on a new screen technology for the upcoming Galaxy S IV smartphone, supposedly set to be officially introduced at an Unpacked Event in March.
A recent report from DigiTimes cites “industry sources” claiming that Samsung Display is preparing new pixel layouts for the AMOLED screen of the upcoming flagship device.
Apparently, these are hexagon- and diamond-shaped pixel layouts, meant to increase the overall pixel density of the screen to over 440ppi.
The current side-by-side layout does not allow for such a pixel density to be achieved easily, it seems.
The news site also notes that Samsung is likely to use a LITI production process for the panel, and that the Galaxy S IV flagship will have one of the highest resolution displays on the market.
