Like most any other PC maker, Samsung did not waste its time and unveiled its own collection of PCs over the past month, but it seems that it has no plans to take a break any time soon. In fact, the company appears more than eager to start working on its new products, one of which should actually make its official appearance soon. The product in question will be the latest in the N series of netbooks and will bear the name of N230.
The Samsung N230, like practically most of the other netbooks on sale, has a 1024 x 600 resolution screen with a size of 10.1 inches. In fact, even its configuration is similar. An Intel Atom N450 chip lies at the heart, paired with 1GB of RAM and the Intel GMA (Graphics Media Accelerator) integrated graphics. A 250GB hard disk drive is also present, as is a 0.3-megapixel webcam, Bluetooth 3.0, 10/100 LAN, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi and optional 3G.
No doubt end-users will have already gathered the hardware is not exactly that unusual for an entry-level PC. As such, Samsung hopes to make its device stand out through aesthetic value. To this end, it threw in an ergonomic island keyboard, as well as a stylish black finish. What's more, all of the parts and chips are somehow crammed together into a casing less than one inch thick. This also enables the entire machine to weigh only 1kg.
Samsung will pre-load the N230 netbook with the Microsoft Windows 7 Starter operating system and will sell it for roughly $399. Two battery options will be available, a 32Wh and a 66Wh. Each will keep the electronic operational for up to 7 and 13.8 hours, respectively. Unfortunately, the exact day of July on which shipments are slated to commence has not been mentioned.
