Samsung has just announced its financial results for the fourth quarter 2011 and seems to be one of the few handset makers with such a high increase in profit.
The Korean company reported 35 million smartphone sales for Q4 2011, and a stunning 300 million Galaxy family devices for the full year.
The company posted a 5.3 trillion won ($4.7 billion USD) operating profit for Q4 2011, on sales of 47 trillion won ($42 billion USD). This is the first time that Samsung’s business exceeded the 5 trillion won ($4.45 billion) landmark for profit in a single quarter.
The company’s mobile business accounted for a 2.6 trillion won ($2.3 billion USD) operating profit in Q4 2011, while the semiconductor business recorded a 2.3 trillion won ($2 billion USD) profit for the same period.
