South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics is reportedly getting ready for the launch of an updated smartphone design, and has already filed for a patent for it, Patent Bolt has found out.

At the moment, the company’s handsets arrive with a nature-inspired design, yet many users would welcome a change, as SamMobile notes.

Said patent filing shows that the company might go for a square-shaped design with future devices, while also packing them with slanted edges.

Other vendors have already adopted similar designs, but Samsung might be planning the use of new materials, although that was not mentioned in the filing.

Samsung is said to have applied for these patents in 2011 in South Korea and in 2012 in the United States, yet no specific info on when the design might make it to an actual smartphone has been provided as of now.
