Samsung has recently unveiled a new version of the i900 Omnia, a reloaded variant that comes in purple and adds to the already existent black and white models. The new Omnia comes with security and social applications, as well as with new home screen widgets and a TV-out cable that the other versions do not feature.

The purple Windows Mobile-powered Omnia Reloaded includes a 3.2-inch WQVGA touch display that delivers a 240 x 400 pixel resolution, as well as a 5 Megapixel CMOS snapper, which sports Auto Focus, Flash, image stabilizer, Geo-tagging, Auto-Panorama Shot, Wide Dynamic Range (WDR), Face Recognition and Smile Recognition.

The phone has video rendering capabilities with support for DivX / XviD / H.263 / H.264 / WMV / MP4, along with video recording and video editing capabilities. Its media player supports audio formats including MP3 / AAC / AAC + / WMA / OGG / AMR, while the handset also comes with FM radio with RDS.

Other specs of the device include GPS capabilities, Bluetooth 2.0 / USB 2.0 / Wi-Fi connectivity, 8GB Flash of internal memory coupled with a microSD memory card slot. The phone has the TouchWiz User Interface and support for HSDPA (7.2 Mbps), EDGE / GPRS 850/900/1800/1900 Mhz 2100 + frequency standards.

Among the new home screen widgets that the Samsung Omnia Reloaded comes with we can count the SecureRed application, which can be used to perform remote access to the device in case it is stolen so that users can wipe out all data on the handset. The social networking features include integrated support for mySpace, Facebook and Flickr clients.

Moreover, SpaceMe, ExploreMe and PlaceMe are present. These services are able to provide geo-referencing between friends from the social networks, also allowing them to share points of interest (POIs).

The new Samsung i900 Omnia is expected to come to the market in Italy this month, at a price tag of 469 Euros ($600).
