South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung unveiled the new additions to its Omnia family not too long ago, and now the availability and pricing of two of the company's handsets, the Samsung Omnia II and Omnia Pro, have been made public. The two devices are expected to hit the market as soon as this summer, at least in some European countries, like Belgium.

According to the news, the Samsung Omnia II should become available for purchase in August, while featuring a price tag of EUR 549 (VAT included), at least this is what Samsung Belgium says. The device will most probably come running under the Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system from Microsoft, though an upgrade to the upcoming 6.5 iteration is in the works as well.

Even better for some, as you might already know, the phone will hit other countries in September, loaded with the WinMo 6.5 platform right out-of-the-box, at least this is what Microsoft Austria has showed recently. One way or the other, the phone will still be able to make enthusiasts rejoice, both due to its functionality and looks as well as courtesy of the WM 6.5 eligibility.

As for the second Omnia family member, the Samsung Omnia Pro, it is expected to come to the shelves in Belgium as soon as this month. The price tag doesn't sound too bad either, namely EUR 499, especially since it also includes VAT. The same 6.1 platform will come on this handset as well, with free upgrade to 6.5 as soon as the OS becomes available.

For the time being, there are no exact details regarding the launch date of the new Samsung Omnia II and Omnia Pro, nor on whether the phones will come through an operator in the country, yet more pieces of information should surface in the near future, so stay tuned to learn more on this.

It appears that the worries and complaints about radiation damage that mobile phones has been forgotten but there is a far worse situation on the horizon.
Is our childrens eyesight at risk with the ever smaller font sizes used in phones nowdays. So much importance is put on the web and being able to browse from your mobile and the ability to send and receive emails. I wonder when the fallout is going to start.
In a way it already has because the market seems fixated on users being below 30years old. The only company that has been responsible in all this appears to be RIM who have always designed there phones with User Selectable Fonts. They are clever enough to avoid catchments and ageism by making sure that all users can enjoy there mobiles.
Why can't other manufacturers give there customers the same. In fact I would say that any mobile without User Selectable Fonts has no reason to call itself a smartphone.
