Samsung Omnia HD users out there will soon have a reason to rejoice, as some firmware updates are slated for release for their mobile devices. The news on the upcoming updates comes from the Samsung Italy Facebook profile, which announced subscribed readers that the handset was about to see two software updates.

According to the post, the updates should become available over the next two weeks, bringing forth both a series of improvements for the device as well as some bug fixes. The first firmware update that the Symbian-based smartphone will see is expected to surface as soon as this week, bringing along a series of enhancements for the overall performance of the phone, including some battery improvements, as well as some new software features, such as widgets.

According to the post on Samsung Italy Facebook profile, the second update for the Samsung Omnia HD should come to users next week and fix an issue that the handset has with the audio quality recording when videos are captured with the phone's camera. According to a series of consumers, it seems that the AMR codec that the Omnia HD uses for encoding audio does not come with the necessary quality.

According to the post, the second firmware update will come with an ACC codec for audio encoding, a solution already available on other handsets. At the same time, it seems that the Samsung Omnia HD will be able to record videos at 720p. It is rather uncertain at the moment whether the updates will come to Omnia HD users in Italy alone, or whether they will become available globally for all users. Hopefully, all of them will be able to enjoy the improvements the new firmware is said to bring along. Stay tuned to learn more details on this as soon as they become available.
