South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung announced recently that two of its new smartphones were introduced on the mobile phone market in India, namely the Samsung Omnia HD i8910 and the Samsung Omnia PRO B7320. The two high-end Omnia handsets will soon become available for purchase in the country, most probably within the following days.

The most interesting part, however, is that the HD video recording phone Omnia HD seems to come to the market with a 1GHz application processor, a great improvement compared to the 600MHz CPU the device features on other markets. A specs sheet displayed at the press event where the device was announced for India shows the new CPU clock speeds, so things are almost confirmed, it seems.

In addition to the higher processor, the handset comes with the already known capabilities, including the 3.7-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, coupled with the TouchWiz user interface and the 8-megapixel photo snapper that sports 720p video recording capabilities. With 16GB of internal memory and the possibility to extend it to up to 48GB via microSD memory cards, the device will surely offer mobile phone users in the country the possibility to record a lot of videos.

The specs list of the Symbian-powered Omnia HD also shows Bluetooth capabilities, Wi-Fi connectivity, support for DLNA, HSDPA 7.2Mbps, HSUPA 5.7Mbps, a built-in GPS receiver with support for maps from NAVTEQ, and more. The price of the device in India has been set at Rs. 33,990, which doesn't look too bad, considering the features it brings along.

In addition to the Omnia HD, Samsung also launched in the country the Omnia PRO B7320, a mobile phone based on Microsoft's Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system. Mainly targeted at the business users in the country, the new device comes with a 528MHz, 256MB of ROM and 256MB of RAM, Wi-Fi connectivity, a 3-megapixel photo snapper, and a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 16GB of additional storage space. Priced at Rs. 16,500, the handset is eligible for an upgrade to the 6.5 flavor of Windows Mobile as soon as it becomes available.
