Windows Phone Mango is expected to become available for download as a software update for existing Windows Phone users in a matter of weeks, and it seems that some devices have already started to receive it.

Make no mistake, this is not the final Mango release, the one that all existing Windows Phone devices will taste, but an engineering ROM that arrived only on the Samsung Omnia 7 on the airwaves of T-Mobile in Germany.

The ROM comes to devices with a series of applications specific to the German wireless carrier, and still requires a lot of work, it seems.

When compared to the software that is currently running on Samsung Omnia 7, the new ROM offers a series of appealing enhancements, though users should think twice before downloading and installing it on their phones, it seems.

Among the improvements that the guys over at MobileTechWorld spotted in the said software update, we can count the inclusion of an updated camera driver, which will offer a working touch focus.

The motion sensor drivers was updated as well, it seems, along with the radio software, which translates into faster transfer speeds both on WiFi and on cellular data experienced on the mobile phone.

The new engineering ROM for Omnia 7 also comes with working hidden WiFi Network feature, as well as with the ability to choose between 2G or 3G data connection.

Moreover, Bing Music is said to be much faster than before, and also more accurate.

Other improvements might have been included there as well, but they were not visible at the moment. However, they will certainly appear in the final flavor of Mango, when it starts arriving on devices around the world.

For the time being, no specific info on when that might happen emerged, though rumors suggested that September will be the lucky month for enthusiasts.

To learn additional details on the said engineering Mango ROM that emerged for Samsung Omnia 7, you should head over to MobileTechWorld here. Download links for the ROM will be available there as well.
