Samsung Omnia 7 is the first Samsung smartphone to run Windows Phone 7 platform to be released in Ireland. This is the third WM7 device that is launched in Ireland, after LG Optimus 7 and HTC HD7 made their debut in October.

The Omnia 7 is now available in Ireland from 3, Meteor and eMobile carriers at prices ranging from €99 to €499, free of contract, on a PAYG (pay as you go) basis or with a two-year contract.

Samsung Omnia 7, along with Samsung Focus are between the best-selling Windows Phone 7 smartphones and the Korean handset manufacturer's flagship WM7 devices.

Omnia 7 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 1 GHz processor and runs on Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 platform.

It comes with an amazing 4.0-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 16M colors and 480x800 pixels resolution, multi-touch input method compatibility, accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate, as well as proximity sensor for auto turn-off.

The device boasts 8GB internal memory, but there's no microSD card slot for memory expansion.

Other highlights of the WM7 smartphone include: HSDPA 7.2 Mbps, HSUPA 5.76 Mbps, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity, GPS with A-GPS support (Bing maps), Digital compass, 3.5 mm audio jack, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP support and microUSB 2.0.

The 5-megapixel camera on the back of the phone features autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging, image stabilization, as well as video recording capabilities (720p@25fps).

The phone's Homescreen is organized by “hubs” that gives users quick access to news, weather and stocks, contacts, multimedia features, as well as social network services (Facebook).

The phone also offers access to Xbox LIVE for gaming, Office suite for document management and Zune for media.

Samsung rates the Li-Ion 1500 mAh battery for up to 390 hours of standby time (up to 330 hours for 3G) or up to 5 hours and 40 minutes of talk time (up to 6 hours and 10 minutes for 3G).
