Samsung Omnia 2 is a mobile phone that has been long rumored to become available in the United States on the airwaves of Verizon Wireless. Expected to arrive for about two months now, the handset is finally said to be on its way to the market with the mobile phone carrier and should become available for purchase as soon as December 2 is here.

According to a recently leaked launch pack for the device, which emerged into the wild courtesy of Engadget, the launch day for the Samsung Omnia 2 has been finally settled, as well as the price tag the phone will sport when available. To be more precise, it seems that Verizon will launch the Omnia 2 for $199.99 upon the signing of a two-year contract agreement and after a $100 mail-in rebate.

All channels should have the phone available the very same day, including the company's retail stores and its website. The good news here is that the Omnia 2 will arrive at Big Red with Microsoft's Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional operating system on board, which might explain a little the huge delay it has seen (the device was initially said to come with the 6.1 flavor of the platform).

The specifications list of Samsung Omnia 2 should be already well known by most users out there, including the fact that the phone should arrive with a 3.7-inch WVGA AMOLED display, a 5-megapixel photo snapper, and 8GB of internal memory, which is coupled with a MicroSD memory card slot for additional storage space.

For what it's worth, many Verizon customers might consider that Omnia 2 is a little late to the party. The carrier already launched another high-end device priced at the same level, the Motorola DROID with Android, and the Samsung handset might have already lost the battle in users' hearts. However, it is still a great device, and it remains to be seen whether it is still capable of showing a good performance. In case the rumors pan out, of course.
