Galaxy S5, the flagship Android handset that Samsung officially started selling today in 125 countries out there, comes with a tougher body when compared to its predecessors, and Samsung has put it through a lengthy testing process to ensure that it works as expected.

Apparently, the company is doing so for all of its devices, and has decided to offer a glimpse at what this testing process involves at its headquarters in Suwon, South Korea.

The guys over at businessinsider took a trip to Samsung’s facilities and published a series of photos to unveil some of the aforementioned tests that new devices are subjected to.

Of course, Samsung is not the only mobile phone maker out there to conduct such tests on its devices before bringing them to the market, as all of them want to ensure that every aspect of their handsets has been designed correctly.

These tests will also show the company how well the device will fare in real-world situations, since there are times when phones are dropped, stepped on, or used in harsh environments, which include extreme heat or cold, or increased humidity.

To ensure that its Galaxy S5 won’t fail when it takes a fall, for example, Samsung has set up a machine that will drop it from different heights and at various angles, while also recording the damage that the phone takes.

Thus, it can learn more on what areas of the phone need to be improved to ensure that they are not harmed when the device falls.

The durability of the home button is also checked, with a machine pressing it for thousands of times, so as to ensure that the device remains usable even after significant wear.

Samsung also performs speaker volume and microphone sensitivity tests on the device, among others. In fact, it seems that the company is releasing the phone with different audio sensitivity capabilities, depending on the market.
