Apple is gearing up for the release of their new iPhone 4S smartphone, and Samsung, which has been battling the Cupertino-based company for the quite some time now on the mobile market, seems set to ruin their parade, at least in Australia.

The South Korean mobile phone maker has just put in place a special deal in the country, offering its high-end Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone for only $2 for a small number of customers.

Those who will stop by the Samsung and Vodafone Pop Up Shop and will be among the first ten customers at that location will grab the new smartphone almost for free.

The deal will run every morning until Friday this week, and will limit the purchases to only one handset per customers, Samsung announced on its website.

“Visit the Samsung and Vodafone Pop Up Shop to try out the new Samsung Music Hub and get your hands on the Samsung GALAXY S II, which has sold over 10M units worldwide,” the mobile phone maker notes.

“You'll also be able to get a coffee at the pop up shop on us – there'll be a barista on hand everyday from 10.30am to 2.30pm.

“Also, Monday 10 October to Friday 14 October, the first 10 Samsung GALAXY S II smartphones sold at the pop up shop will be sold for only $2. (Limit 1 unit per customer. NSW Permit No. LTPS/11/9372 Terms & conditions apply).”

Galaxy S II has been very well received in all markets around the world, and managed to sell more units than the iPhone in some of them.

In Australia, the handset is available for $849 (around 622 Euros) off-contract, and it seems that users are indeed interested in it, since the waiting line outside Samsung's location was reportedly longer than the line at a nearby Apple Store.
