Samsung is expected to launch a new portable computer system that is designed to provide users with the computing power of a VIA Nano processor. The new laptop, dubbed NC20, has been leaked on the Internet several times now, as the company has already published the manual of the upcoming laptop, providing a full range of specifications and feature details of its new portable system.

The NC20 is expected to come out with a 12-inch display running at a maximum resolution of 1280 by 800 pixels, and it is powered by the aforementioned VIA Nano processor, running at a cool 1.3GHz. On the storage side, Samsung's NC20 provides users with a choice between a traditional hard disk drive and a Flash-based solid state drive. The system is packed with 1GB of RAM memory, has Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and Ethernet, and it will also provide a 3-in-1 card reader and a 1.3MP webcamera as well as 3 USB 2.0 ports.

Samsung's NC20 is built on VIA's VX800 chipset and is equipped with the VIA Chrome9 HC3 IGP. According to the published manual, the system will be powered by a 6-cell Lithium-Ion battery, which should provide a decent run time. Despite no official details on the part of the company, the NC20 is expected to come for a price tag of $500, roughly in the same price range as some of the better-equipped 10-inch netbooks currently available on the market.

It is yet unclear if Samsung plans to sell the NC20 as a netbook with a larger screen, or will place the laptop in a different market category. Taking a look at the specifications and the estimated price tag, one would be inclined to say that the NC20 is aiming for the high-end netbook market, probably competing with Dell's Inspiron Mini 12, the 12-inch netbook that is powered by an Intel Atom processor.
