More of the same Intel Atom N270-based netbooks

Early last week, Samsung announced some new netbooks, part of its growing range of small-sized, low-power, portable computer system lineup. One of the company's latest models, the N110, has been designed to eventually replace the successful NC10 netbook, offering a range of technical specifications that are somewhat similar to the aforementioned model. On that note, it appears that users looking to purchase their own netbook can take interest in the newly launched N110, which has just been made available for pre-order.

The new Samsung N110 has been designed to compete in the 10-inch netbook market segment, being built on the very familiar Intel Atom platform. The system is powered by a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor that has been combined with 1GB of DDR2 memory and a 160GB hard drive. Unlike early netbook models, the N110 offers support for a memory expansion of up to 2GB, consequently boosting the performance of the overall system.

On the inside, the N110 is featured with the same integrated Intel GMA945 graphics solution, which enables a resolution of up to 1024 by 600, on the 10.1-inch display. Additional features include a wireless 802.11 b/g and Bluetooth connectivity and the usual array of ports, namely three USB 2.0, one VGA connector, an Ethernet LAN RJ45, microphone and headphone jacks and a 3-in-1 card reader.

Said to be capable of providing the end-user with approximately 7 hours of battery life, the N110 appears to be on its way towards becoming one of the most successful netbooks on the market. If that is not enough to get your attention, you should know that the system is already available for pre-order at buy.com for $441,99, which includes a price cut of 5 percent. This doesn't place the N110 among the most affordable netbooks on the market, but thanks to the overall design the N110 might still get a chance.
