Wireless carrier Sprint has recently delivered a new software update for Samsung Moment, one of the handsets it launched last year on the US market with Google's Android operating system on board. This is not the Android 2.1 update that Moment users were expecting to arrive on their handsets in the near future, but it still comes with a series of enhancements and fixes, so it should provide an improved experience to all users out there.

According to Sprint, the new software solution available for the Samsung Moment includes: - Network Assist GPS to allow indoor location fix - Updates to several third-party apps, including Visual Voicemail, NFL, NASCAR and Sprint TV - Change to Emergency Dial on lock screen - Hard reset available in recovery mode: remove and reinsert battery; press volume down, send and end keys until reboot option pops up; scroll to wipe data/factory reset; press OK - Various improvements to battery life

The new software version for the handset is S:M900.8.0S.CL14, and the wireless carrier notes that those interested in performing the update should head over to a Sprint retail location with a Repair Center. However, the company also plans on making the software solution available for download directly on the handset in the near future, so those willing to make the update all by themselves will still have to wait a little for it to land.

Those who own a Samsung Moment can check on the software version currently available on their handsets through pressing Menu on the Main screen, hitting Settings and then About Phone. Under the Baseband version heading, they will find the software version listed in the format of S:M900.X.XX.XXXX (the previous version that Sprint lists on its website is S:M900.8.0S.CJ05). The update is not available over the air for the time being, yet Samsung Moment users who would like to learn more on it should head to Sprint's website here.
