South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics is reportedly considering the release of the Android 4.4 KitKat platform version to a nice range of low-cost devices in its range.

Given that Google has already optimized the new operating system version for use on handsets that pack low amounts of memory, it would be possible for company to make the move, it seems.

Apparently, Samsung might be set to push the aforementioned platform release to handsets such as Galaxy S4 mini, Galaxy S3 mini, Galaxy S Advance, Galaxy Ace 3, Galaxy Core, Galaxy Fame, Galaxy Ace 2, and the Galaxy Fresh, a recent article on SamMobile notes.

The info comes from a leaked photo of an internal document, which could include a series of other smartphones as well, the news site notes.

The only thing that appears to be certain at the moment is that Samsung is looking into the matter, though there’s no telling on whether the update will indeed arrive on these phones.

What remains to be seen is whether the handset vendor will consider the release of this update with a lighter version of the TouchWiz interface, given that it is considered to slow phones down due to heavy customizations.

Samsung has been said before to have confirmed plans to make the Android 4.4 KitKat OS available for its latest high-end smartphones out there, such as Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 3, and few others more, but no info on mid- and low-range phones has been provided as of now.

Should the company indeed plan on making the update available for these phones, it will make a great deal of users happy, that’s for sure.

However, with no official confirmation on the matter available as of now, we’ll have to take the info above with a grain of salt. Stay tuned for additional details on Samsung’s Android 4.4 KitKat update plans.
