New Samsung entry-level handsets

Samsung M620, B300 and B510 are three other new handsets unveiled by the South Korean company in the Netherlands, during TeleVisie 2008 (14 - 15 April). Unlike the other phones presented at the Dutch fair (U800, L870 and i900), which bring advanced features, M620, B300 and B510 are entry-level devices that will appeal to users who can't afford or simply do not want to pay too much money for a cell phone.

The first handset, Samsung M620, is a slider that offers a 262K colors display, tri-band GSM connectivity with GPRS, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, Music player, FM radio and a VGA camera that will probably provide low-quality photos, all packed in a pretty good looking case that measures 98 x 45.9 x 16.9 mm.

B300 is one of the newest Samsung clamshells, coming with an internal SCTN display (65K colors), an external (smaller) one, dual-band GSM connectivity, FM radio and that's about all. When closed, the handset measures 87 x 45 x 18.6 millimeters, which is not bad for a clamshell.

Samsung B510 is a bit more evolved than B300 and it comes in a slider form factor. The phone sports a CSTN display with 65K colors, Music player, FM radio and Bluetooth (probably 2.0) with A2DP. Samsung B5120 measures 95 x 45 x 18.1 mm when closed, and, like the M620 model, it offers tri-band GSM connectivity with GPRS.

As in the case of the high end phones presented by Samsung in the Netherlands, the three new affordable ones will probably become available in the second half of the year. We're guessing Samsung will focus on promoting M620, B300 and B510 in emerging markets, where they have good chances to reach high sales and consolidate Samsung's position as the second largest handset producer in the world.
