South Koran mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics is looking to ship around 330 million smartphones next year, the latest reports on the matter suggest.

Previously, the handset vendor targeted sales of around 360 million units for 2014, up from the 290 million smartphone sales targeted for the current year.

No specific info on why Samsung took this decision has been provided as of now, though it appears that the company is moving its focus to tablets for the next year.

Furthermore, as SamMobile notes, the smartphone market appears to have reached a saturation point, especially in the high-end segment, which would explain why the company is looking at a lower increase in sales for the next year.

However, no official confirmation on this has been provided as of now, and it remains to be seen whether the report will prove accurate or not.
