Today, South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics unveiled a new smartphone running under its own mobile operating system bada, namely the Samsung Wave II S8530.

The handset should not be mistaken for the already launched Wave 2 smartphone, which sports the model number S5250.

The new device is the fifth smartphone Samsung brings to the market with its bada OS on board, following the launch of Samsung Wave (S8500) last year, and that of Wave 2 (S5250), Wave 2 Pro (S5330) and Samsung Wave 723 previously during the ongoing year.

Basically, the new Wave II is set to land on shelves as the successor for the original Wave, and boasts similar, though a little upgraded, specs with the first bada-based handset in the world.

The new mobile phone comes with a larger touchscreen display on board, namely a 3.7-inch one, boasting a 800 x 480 pixels resolution.

Interesting enough, the specs list of the new device suggests that display would be a Super clear LCD one, while the original Wave came with a 3.3-inch Super AMOLED screen.

According to a recent article on Samsung Hub, the new bada smartphone also comes with enhanced software inside, such as the T9 input method Trace, which is said to be some sort of a Swype for bada.

The rest of the specs should be the same as with the first bada handset, such as the 1GHz application processor, as well as the 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with LED flash and HD video recording.

Moreover, the new Wave II device is said to come on shelves with HSDPA, Wi-Fi 802.11n and Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity options, as well as with 3.5mm headphone jack.

2GB of internal memory are included in the equation, complemented by a microSD memory card slot for additional storage space. The phone is powered by a 1500mAh battery.

The new Samsung Wave II is expected to arrive on the market in Germany sometime in November, featuring a price tag of 429 euros (around $590).
