According to the latest news on the Internet, Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd has recently announced the release of “its first ever, innovative” mobile phone that uses solar power to function, namely the “Solar Crest,” which is now available in Pakistan.

The new cell phone is meant to utilize as few ecologically harmful sources of energy as possible, given the fact that it has been designed so as to include solar panels. The solar technology is of great use for people who live in countries where electricity shortages are registered frequently, and Pakistan is one of these countries.

Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd Country Manager Sung Woo Han commented on the release, “This revolutionary phone will benefit consumers everywhere, especially Pakistan, by enabling significant conservation of energy.”

“This classy handset, Solar Crest has the capacity to provide three minutes of talk time on calls, after a simple 10 minutes of solar recharge. Thus only a fraction of daylight hours will enable an extensive talk time to the users,” stated Zeshan Qureshi, the head of Pakistan Samsung Mobiles.

As many of you might already remember, Samsung announced back in February yet another solar-powered mobile phone, the Blue Earth, which was packed with a full-touchscreen display, while also being one of the handsets that would show Samsung's commitment to protect the environment under the slogan “The Blue Earth Dream: Eco-living with SAMSUNG mobile.”

At the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, where the device was shown for the first time, Mr. JK Shin, executive vice president and head of Mobile Communication Division of Samsung Electronics, stated the following: “Samsung’s ‘The Blue Earth Dream’ demonstrates our small but meaningful commitments for the future and our environment. We are committed to achieving the highest eco-status with our customers and business partners by providing the best eco-products and promoting eco-activities.”
