Today, South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung has officially announced the availability of its Galaxy Note 3 Neo smartphone on the market in India.

The company unveiled during the Samsung Forum 2014 that the new mobile phone would be released in the country with a price tag of Rs. 40,900 ($659/€481) attached to it, as AndroidOS notes.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo was made official last month as the cheaper version of the Galaxy Note 3, which was unveiled back in September during the IFA 2013 show in Berlin.

The handset arrives on shelves with a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED HD (1280 x 720 pixels) touchscreen display, which makes it a tad smaller when compared to its predecessor.

Moreover, the new device sports a 1.6GHz quad-core processor inside, along with 2GB of RAM, which should provide its users with appealing performance capabilities.

The handset packs 16GB of internal memory, paired with a microSD memory card slot that offers support for up to 64GB of external storage.

On the back, Galaxy Note 3 Neo features an 8-megapixel camera with LED flash, BSI sensor, and support for full HD video recording capabilities. Moreover, it comes with a 2MP front camera for making video calls.

The mobile phone arrives in India with support for 3G HSPA+ networks, as well as with Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac (HT80) and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, in addition to featuring built-in GPS receiver with GLONASS, and NFC capabilities.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo measures 148.4 x 77.4 x 8.6 mm, weighs 162.5 grams, and is powered by a 3100mAh battery. The smartphone runs under Google’s Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system right from the start.

The new handset will arrive in India in Black and White color versions, yet Samsung hasn’t provided specific info on when the phone will be put up for sale. Hopefully, that will happen sooner rather than later, so stay tuned to learn more on the matter.

Update: It appears that Galaxy Note 3 Neo should hit shelves in India in late-February or early-March. Additional info on the matter should emerge in the not too distant future.
