Or at least that's what it looks like

Samsung L870 (or SGH-L870) was first seen more than one month ago, in the Netherlands, and it seemed to be a mid-end slider phone. According to some recently unveiled info, the L870 was redesigned a bit by the South Korean producer and now it looks like the handset is yet another device from the Soul family.

A Czech mobile-related website comes with a new L870 photo and also with new details about the device. Unlike the model seen in the Netherlands, the new one features a Touch-sensitive pad similar to what Samsung's U900 Soul phone has. Aside from this, the features are about the same as the ones already known, but we now have an almost complete list of specs.

The L870 runs on Symbian 9.3 S60 3.2 Edition and it packs a 2.3 inch TFT display with 240 x 320 pixels and 262K colors, tri-band GSM (900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz) and UMTS 2100 connectivity (the latter allows data transfer speeds of up to 3.6 Mbps), a 3 Megapixel camera, secondary video-call camera, Bluetooth 2.0, Music player, FM radio with RDS, email and Internet capabilities, document viewer, USB 2.0 and microSD card support for increasing the storage capacity with several GBs. All these features are squeezed into a metallic case that measures only 102 x 50 x 13.5 mm (when closed, of course).

There's no word yet on Samsung L870's price, nor on its availability. However, given the tri-band GSM connectivity and the 2100 MHz UMTS one, North American users will surely not be able to get this handset.

The official launch of the new L870 will apparently take place on the 17th of June, at the Communic Asia show held in Singapore. We'll see then if the phone is indeed a Soul one.
